Wild Goose Chi Kung (Qi Gong)
First, let's learn a little more about this amazing bird
Wild Goose Chi Kung or Da Yan Chi Kung, is one of the oldest systems of Chi Kung practiced today both in China and around the world.
Originating in the Kunlun Mountains around 1800 years ago, the system consists of exercise patterns that mimic the graceful movement of the goose, a bird long associated with longevity in China and Tibet, in combination with teachings from Chinese medicine, Taoism and breath work.
Throughout many generations, the system was passed down from teacher to student in a tightly held transmission. While this approach to passing down family methods of health systems ensures authenticity and proper instruction, it is also a certain way for many methods to become extinct. To ensure the longevity of Wild Goose Chi Kung, the 27th generation holder of the system Grand Master Yang Meijun, decided at the age of 80, to start teaching the system to the public in general. Her conviction that such a valuable treasure should be passed on to more than one student at a time, breaking away with tradition, has made the practice available to anyone today..
Grand Master Yang Meijun passed away in 2002 at the age of 106. Those who knew her testify of her vigor, agility and overall general health which she accredited to her daily practice of Wild Goose Chi Kung.
The Wild Goose Chi kung set consists of 72 forms of which 11 forms and 7 meditation techniques have been documented. The first two sets are made up 64 postures each. This workshop will cover the first set of 64 postures.
